Nasal symptoms can be recurrent and annoying. These symptoms are
from allergies and sinusitis. Nasal symptoms can be be serious,
related to cancer of the sinus, or severe opportunistic fungal infections.
Recurrent nasal bleeding can be a symptoms of fragile mucosa lining
the nose, vascular malformations of the nasal cavity or tumors
of the nasal cavity or sinus.
Loss of smell may be a symptom of allergies or sinus cysts. It
may also occur from brain tumors that involve the base of the skull, immediately
above the nasal cavity.
The important thing to remember, is that understanding the underlying
cause of your nose symptoms may be crucial. Education of patients about
their nasal symptoms improves the chance of obtaining the right diagnosis
and obtaining prompt and correct treatment.
