The eye has always been viewed as a tunnel to the inner workings of the
Body. There are many disease states that may produce symptoms from the
eye. These conditions may be manifestations of disease of the cornea,
the lens, the semi-solid that fills the eye and the retina.
Some of the diseases that involve the eye include dry eye, presbyopia,
glaucoma, heart attacks, aneurysms, brain tumors, migraine headaches,
multiple sclerosis and myasthenia gravis.
Eye symptoms may also be a harbinger of potentially life threatening
Conditions, such as ruptured aneurysms of the brain, brain tumors,
strokes or heart attacks. It is imperative to be able to rapidly
identify the cause of eye symptoms in order to obtain rapid and appropriate
medical care.
Elective treatments of these disorders sometimes requires eyelid
surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery and lasik surgery.
