Eosinophilc granuloma produces lesions in the bones. It occurs most often in children. Any bone may be affected, but the skull and jaw are the most common. The bony lesion may occur as an isolated lesion, or may be part of systemic disease. These include Hand-Schuler-Christian disease and Letterer -Siwe disease.

Somewhere around three fourths of people that develop eosinophilic graunuloma will have histiocytosis X.

Signs and Symptoms of Eosinophilic Granuloma

Pain occurs in the area of the affected bone. There may be local swelling and tenderness. If the lungs are involved with the process, respiratory symptoms may occur.
