Causes of Encephalopathy, Metabolic

Problems with the lungs, the heart and red blood cells can all lead to hypoxia, where insufficient amounts of oxygen are provided to the brain.
Signs and Symptoms of Encephalopathy, Metabolic
Symptoms of metabolic encephalopathy include irritability, lethargy, tremors and depression. Disorientation and coma may develop. Death can occur in unusually severe cases.
