Endometrial Polyps

Overview of Endometrial Polyps

overview

The lining of the uterus called the endometrium may occasionally develop small round growths or polyps. They occur frequently in conditions which produce overgrowth of the uterine cells, such as uterine fibroids and endometrial hyperplasia. Uterine polyps are more common in women over 50 years of age. They can appear individually or in small groups. They generally go undetected. They may protrude into the vagina. They may be associated with bleeding as well as with difficulties getting pregnant. They only very rarely become malignant.
