Steakhouse syndrome describes the condition which occurs to people who have disease or narrowing of their esophagus. When eating meat, particularly large bites, there is difficulty swallowing.

Esophageal narrowing, esophageal webs, esophageal rings and achalasia all can lead to steakhouse syndrome. Ulcers or cancer of the esophagus are also important causes of this disorder.

Signs and Symptoms of Steakhouse Syndrome

Difficulty swallowing and pain with swallowing occurs. It is usually in the upper chest or neck. Choking may occur.
