Asherman's syndrome produces secondary amenorrhea. This is a condition in which women who have had previous menstrual periods no longer have them. It is caused by some type of obstruction of the cervix, or passage to the uterus. It is often caused by severe scarring of stenosis of the cervix.

Causes of Asherman's Syndrome

Asherman's syndrome may be caused by excessive curettage which occurs in an attempt to control uterine bleeding after delivery. In addition, therapeutic abortion complicated by infection may produce Asherman's syndrome.

Signs and Symptoms of Asherman's Syndrome
