Testicular cancer is the uncontrolled growth of malignant cells in the testicle. There are many different types of testicular cancer, and some more dangerous than others. This is the most common form of cancer in young men, and occurs most often between ages 20 -40. Usually, only one testicle is involved.
Causes of Testicular Cancer
The cause of testicular cancer is unknown. It is more common in white men than in black men. If the testicles are undescended at birth, there may be an increased risk of developing cancer of the testicle. Other conditions, such as hydrocele, varicocele, orchitis and epididymitis, may all produce what appears to be a lump in the testicle without being cancer.
Signs and Symptoms of Testicular Cancer
Testicular cancer produces a lump in the testicle. The lump is usually discovered by accident or by self-examination. the lump is usually painless. A fullness or heavy feeling in the testicle may occur.
