Causes of Postpartum Depression
Most mothers experience some degree of depression during the first weeks after birth. After birth, there are hormonal changes that affect emotions. These physical and emotional stresses are also exacerbated by inadequate rest until the baby’s routine stabilizes.
Signs and Symptoms of Postpartum Depression
Postpartum depression is common. It can produce feelings of sadness, hopelessness, gloom doubt about one’s ability to improve life. Loss of appetite and weight loss may develop.
