Overview of Pneumonia, Bacterial 
A bacterial infection and inflammation of the lungs, which is not usually contagious. It is most severe in young children and adults over age 60, but can affect all ages.
Causes of Pneumonia, Bacterial 
Cause is due to bacterial infection, such as Pneumococci, Haemophilus, streptococci or staphylococci.
Signs and Symptoms of Pneumonia, Bacterial 
Symptoms include: high fever (over 102° F or 38.9° C), chills, shortness of breath, cough with sputum that may contain blood or blood streaks, rapid breathing, chest pain that worsens with inhalations, abdominal pain, fatigue, and bluish lips and nails (rare).
