Nose fractures involve the bones and cartilage of the nose. These areas may be fractured by direct trauma, or may become damaged when other bones of the face are fractures. These fractures lead to deformity of the nose that can eventually obstruct respiratory function.
Causes of Nose Fracture
Nasal fractures are caused by trauma.
Signs and Symptoms of Nose Fracture
Nasal fractures produce pain in the nose, nosebleeds, and a swollen, discolored nose. Due to local mechanical deformity, swelling or a hematoma, there may be difficulties with breathing. If no treatment is done, a crooked or deformed nose can develop.
