Causes of Lead Poisoning
Causes is due to the direct inhalation or ingestion of lead dust or fumes. The body excretes lead very slowly, therefore it accumulates in the body tissues, especially the bones.
Signs and Symptoms of Lead Poisoning
Symptoms include: no symptoms Mild to moderate levels of lead: paleness, fatigue, lethargy, behavioral changes (e.g., irritability), abdominal discomfort, difficulty concentrating, headache, vomiting, weight loss, tremor, and sleep disorders. Severe lead poisoning: metallic taste, constipation, severe abdominal cramps, rigidity of the abdominal wall, muscular weakness or paralysis, cerebral type or lead encephalopathy, seizures, coma, neurological defects, retarded mental development, and chronic hyperactivity.
