Causes of Eye, Foreign Body In 
Foreign bodies may enter the eye through trauma or contamination from aerosolized material. Contaminants on the hands can deposit these in the eye.
Signs and Symptoms of Eye, Foreign Body In 
A foreign body in the eye leads to pain, irritation and redness in the eye. At times, a foreign body may be visible with the naked eye. It may become trapped underneath the eyelid, however, or be very small. There is usually excessive tearing and often blurring of the vision. There may be a scratchy sensation in the eye with blinking.
