Nasal Vestibulitis occurs when there is inflammation of the tissue around the entrance to the nose, the nasal vestibule. Minor infections at the opening of the nose may result in pimples at the base of nasal hairs (folliculitis) and sometimes crusts around the nostrils.
More serious infections result in boils, or furuncles. Cellulits, or spreading of the infection in the tissue layer under the skin, occasionally may involve veins draining from the brain. A life-threatening condition called cavernous sinus thrombosis can develop if the bacteria spread to the brain through these veins.
Causes of Nasal Vestibulitis
