Athlete's foot is a fairly common and contagious fungus infection. Athlete's foot usually occurs on the skin on the feet, especially the soles and skin between toes (often the 4th and 5th toes). Athlete's foot affects adolescents and adults (rare in young children) and is often picked up on the gym floor from bare feet.

Athlete's foot is caused by an infection by a Trichophyton fungus.

Signs and Symptoms of Athlete's Foot

Athlete's foot symptoms are: moist, soft, gray-white or red scales on feet, especially between toes, dead skin between toes, itching in inflamed areas, damp, musty foot odor, and small blisters on the feet (sometimes).
