Penile fracture only occurs when the penis is erect. There is a sudden bending of the penis during sexual intercourse or other activities. Direct blunt trauma may also cause this. The penis appears deformed and bruised. There may be leakage of urine.

Penile fracture is caused by disruption of the fascial linings of the penis. There may be concurrent injury to the urethra.

Signs and Symptoms of Penile Fracture

Swelling ad black and blue discoloration of the penis. Loss of erection. Deformity of the penis. There may be a hematoma that involves the scrotum. The penis often appears deviated to the side opposite of the injury. There may be blood in urine. Urine may leak through a portion of the damaged penis. There are difficulties with erections.
