Stress fractures usually develop in a bone which has been subjected to repetitive trauma. This can come as the result of altered biomechanics. It is most commonly found in the bones of the foot.

Stress fractures are caused by alteration of the normal biomechanics that affect the bone. This usually occurs when a particular bone is subjected to repetitive micro trauma. Eventually, the bone fails and a fracture occurs.

Signs and Symptoms of Stress Fracture

The most common symptom associated with the development of a stress fracture is pain. Like any fracture, swelling and redness may develop over the involved bone. Repetitive physical activity may aggravate the symptoms.
