Causes of Reactive Lymphadenopathy

causes

Bacterial or viral infections are the leading causes of reactive lymphadenopathy. Chronic infections may produce generalized lymph node enlargement. Cancer can, also, produce enlarged lymph nodes. However, they are most commonly painless.

Signs and Symptoms of Reactive Lymphadenopathy

signs and symptoms

Swollen lymph nodes due to infection are often painful. Localized infection usually affects the lymph nodes that are closest to the abnormality. The lymph nodes decrease in size and are less painful as the infection is treated.
